- Cargo Damage Surveys

When cargo is found damaged, it is necessary to estimate the extent of damage and also to find out the extent and exact cause of damage for claim consideration purposes.
We conduct damage surveys for all kinds of trades and commodities, ranging from damaged cargoes either in bulk, containeried or carried by truck, air freight etc.
- Pre-loading condition surveys
Pre-loading condition surveys of cargoes on behalf of Overseas Clients. The scope of this inspection, is primarily to verify that the goods are complying with the contractual specifications, are in the condition agreed and are only exposed to the normal perils of the carriage. This can be either used for insurance purposes and/or on behalf of consignees/receivers. Such surveys are conducted in most cases prior to shipment, and in the country of exportation.
- Stowage & lashing
This survey is conducted in order to ensure that the cargo stowage, lashing and securing has been safely performed and any damage on the cargo, that may be caused by the nomal perils of transportation, have been minimized. Our experienced surveyors interfere when necessary, by consulting and providing relevant solutions.
- Container inspections
Nowadays, the majority of general cargoes are carried in containers, making them one of the largest and fastest growing cargo categories in many of the ports worldwide. Hence, into containers are carried almost anything, from equipment-machineries, to liquid cargoes and foodstuff. Thus, many companies dealing with containerized shipments, are often interested in surveys of containers. We carry out damage surveys, condition surveys and monitoring of containers.
- Cargo discharge/loading/transhipment monitoring
Often various sides involved in cargoes carriage, are interested in the constant control above cargo operations to prevent any possible loss due to inaccurate work of e.g. stevedores, operators or wrong stowage and securing of a cargo. It includes definition of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of a cargo during operations and also supervising the whole progress.
- Draught surveys
A draught survey is a method of cargo weight determination by ship's displacement calculations, empty and loaded (or loaded and empty), taking into account any change in weight of the liquids on board.
- Bunker quantity surveys
A Bunker Quantity Survey (BQS), also known simply as a Bunker Survey, is a quantitative examination of Fuel Oil (Bunker Fuel) delivered to a vessel (the receiver) from a supplier. A BQS is a commonly used Loss Control tool to track significant variances of cargo quantities between the supplier and receiver. Since bunker fuel is often the largest financial cost driver to the operation of a vessel, a BQS is considered a critical service to ensure correct quantities of fuel are delivered.
- Vessel condition surveys
Vessel condition inspection is full condition of a vessel (ship) survey on her technical condition. Our associated experienced marine surveyors attending to the vessel, for verifying the condition of her hull, machinery and equipment items on board.
- Surveys for yachts and small crafts
We provide either condition and/or damage surveyos on yachts & crafts under 24.00 metres long. A survey of the hull or machinery of a vessel following an incident involving damage (with relevant follow ups on repairings) and/or pre-purchase inspections for ascertaining vessel's actual condition.
- Heavy lift surveys
Heavy lift cargo involves a single lift of over around 50mt with some lifts in excess of 14,000mt whereas project cargo involves a combination of small regular lifts, heavy lifts and oversize lifts which combined form part of a project such as a factory being moved from one location to another. We can assess and advise on whether the transport system and handling equipment proposed are suitable for the safe movement and correct delivery of the load, monitor the movement of the load and record any irregularities or damages that may take place.
- Warehouse surveys
We conduct property risk assessment inspection, usually for insurance purposes for warehouses and storage buildings, by surveying the security measures, infrastructures and operations.
- Motor outturn surveys
We conduct such surveys either on behalf of Shipping Lines or Insurers, on various types of vehicles when discharged and/or loaded on board the Car Carrier Vessels. The said inspections can be either performed at vehicles' first point of rest (F.P.R.) at discharging/transshipment port or monitor their loading on board, in order to verify their condition and/or prevent any potential damage.
